We are a group of like-minded, multilingual professionals who care deeply about Corporate Governance and consider it the glue that holds companies strong and improve their chances of longevity. We also consider Family Governance as a necessary condition for preserving family control in family businesses across multiple generations. We are generalists with many years of advisory and executive experiences across different industries and different countries.

Christos Christou

Mr. Christos Christou is the founder and editor of the resources available at the site. He has over 33 years of professional experience and has been a management consultant, a Senior Banker and a principal investor. He has over 24 years experience as a non-executive director in private company boards across different industries and countries (Lithium Battery Technology – UK, Railway wagon leasing – Russia, FMCG – Tunisia, edible oils – Tunisia, European Master Franchisor Childrens Development Program – Belgium, Fixed Income Hedge Fund Manager – UK, Investment Company – Lithuania).  

He has also completed two successful turnarounds as interim general manager (Solar Cells – Croatia, Ferry Owner/Operator – Italy/Greece).

His interest in Corporate Governance began during his work as a Senior Banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) (1992-1999) and whilst leading debt and equity financings to companies in countries transitioning to market economies, including Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. As a private equity investor through funds and individually he has negotiated and formulated governance arrangements in investee companies across different sectors and countries. He has also acted as Senior Advisor on behalf of the EBRD  to families wishing to introduce Corporate Governance and Family Governance arrangements in their holdings. He has advised Boards and owners of family businesses on Corporate Governance for over 20 years.

He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering (BSc) from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London and an MBA from Harvard Business School, both with academic scholarships. He has also completed further courses at Harvard Business School (Internationalization of Private Equity, the Entrepreneur’s Toolkit), at IMD, Lausanne, and Cranfield Institute of Management (the Non-Executive Director).

He is a resident of the UK and a Cypriot passport holder. He was born in 1963.

Alejandro Marchionna Faré

Mr. Alejandro Marchionna Faré has more than 35 years of experience as a consultant in strategy, corporate governance, organization and strategic marketing; he has directed projects in Europe, the U.S., Latin America and Asia. He currently chairs the Board of Integra Negocios S.A., an Argentine-based consultancy.

Alejandro Marchionna Faré is a part-time Professor in management practice in the área of Business Policy; he is a founding member of the PwC Argentina Chair in Governance of Organisations at IAE Business School; he also teaches strategy at the MBA programme of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario, as well as a member of its Academic Committee.

He is currently the Secretary of the Board and chairman of the Academic Committee of IGEP (Instituto de Gobernanza Empresarial y Pública – Argentina’s IoD, member of the GNDI); he was responsible for the development of the DEP (Professional Board Member), DIRSA (Director of a Limited Liability Company), DICA (Board Member of a Quoted Company) and DIEPE (Board Member of a State Owned Enterprise) programs. 

He was an independent director and Chairman of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee of TGLT S.A., a property developer and construction company quoted in the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange between 2010 and 2020. He has also been a non executive deputy chairman of Aguas Bonaerenses S.A., a water and sewers operator; as well as a non executive director of Centrales Costa Atlántica S.A. (an electricity generator). 

Alejandro Marchionna Faré has been the chairman of the Supervisory Board of DTR d.d. (a leading manufacturer and retailer of light clothing in Central Europe); a partner with Serra Consulting in Buenos Aires;  the Contracting, Costing and Quality Assurance Director at Galeno, a leading Argentina HMO.; 

He holds degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from the Catholic University of Argentina; an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School; a postgraduate degree in University Teaching from the Universidad de Buenos Aires; and a D.B.A. from Universidad del CEMA with a dissertation on “Relationship between the role of the Board in strategic planning and the value of quoted companies”. He completed the PAD – Advanced Management Programme at IAE Business School in 2016.

He joined the Institute of Consulting of the U.K. as a member in 1987 and was elected Fellow in 1989; he is a Chartered Management Consultant. 

He joined the Institute of Directors of the U.K. in 2012; and became a Chartered Director and Fellow of the IoD in 2019. 

In 2016 he completed the Train the Trainer programme on Corporate Governance conducted by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Sao Paulo at the Istituto Brasileiro de Governanca Corporativa (IBGC). In 2018 he completed the DICA programme at IGEP; and the regional programme for Board Members of SOEs, conducted in Sao Paulo by Brazil’s IBGC with the support of the U.S. Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the IFC. In 2019 he completed the DIEPE programme at IGEP and in 2020 the CORPSEC (Company Secretary and Governance) programme at IGEP.

A dual Argentine/Italian citizen, he was born in 1957.
